Getting ready to leave!

Well,

I now have a family that I will be living with, in Croix...France! Most people, I have quickly realized, do not know where it is!..It is right next to Lille, and about forty minutes north of Paris! I'm am soo excited to leave there, becaue my family is tres sympa! I have a sister who is 16 years old, and a brother who is 14...My sisters name is Sarah, and shes very nice..also my brother's name is Louis, but i havent talked to him yet! I leave September 2 and will be staying til feburary!..well au revoir for now!

Hi, my name is Mary Marren and I live in Burlington, WI. I am currently a junior at Burlington High School. Some things that I enjoy doing are painting, dancing, singing, and playing the piano. The reason I would like to go abroad with AFS is to get a cultural experience. Where I live there is not much diversity, so by studying abroad I am hoping to gain an understanding of other people's life and culture. I am planning to spend a semester studing in France, where I plan to further my language speaking skills, and study hard to become fluent in French. I chose to ask AFSers for sponsorship because with two sisters, and a brother in college, money is on a tight budget. I have already sent out sponsorship letters, applied for scholarships, and work two jobs, but even with all the help I have recieved, I find I'm still coming up short. In total I have raised $2,500, out of the $8,900 needed. I am going to continue to fund raise throughout summer, and work practically ever day. Through this blog I would like to raise $5,000.
